If you start to notice that at the end of the day you are unable to remember what you did at the beginning of the day. Small things begin to slip your mind. You can not remember the names of people you have just met. You start to have difficulty remembering facts and figures and recalling details. Find yourself lost in a conversation because you did not hear what the other person has said.
You find it difficult to concentrate for long periods of time. You start projects and tasks but are unable to complete them successfully. Your thoughts jump form one thing to another but with no connection. You find yourself daydreaming or your mind going blank for periods of time.
Do you worry constantly about your competence and your ability to do your job. You worry about what you should be doing. You may began to notice that you find it hard to concentrate in a meeting and are a little behind everyone else. This may cause you to become uncomfortable and paranoid.
You may start to over-compensate for the lack of being in control. You may start hiding the fact that you are not coping with your workload. Begin to use delaying tactics and shift blame to others to delay delivery of tasks and projects.
Extremes of everything is a clear indicators of overload. Stress can lead to either over-eating or under-eating or too much or too little sleep.
Procrastination is one of the causes of overload. People who procrastinate spend days or weeks in a state of worry. This makes you feel out of control and in a state of panic. Dealing with situations as and when it happens helps to reduce stress.
Do you become frozen when you are not able to cope any longer. You are unable to think, act or respond to what going on around you. You feel numb and despite the urgency of the situation you feel nothing.
